Evidently Cabinet Making books are outselling all other furniture making books, hence the cross marketing. What this book does well is show every type of traditional glue joint you might possibly need to make cabinets and other furniture, but it is not set up for those who want to be guided through making their own kitchen cabinets/5(). I really like Jim Toplin's book "building traditional kitchen cabinet" I found it help me not only in the construction but also on the decision making process for style and material and a load of little details that that show Toplin's is also a better writer than Proulx. Prouls'x book are not bad at all but they are heavily oriented on the construction phase. Cabinet Making Don't get me wrong, I like Norm Abram. I think he has a ton of talent and does a bang up job instructing and propagating woodworking but I have to say it pains me severely to watch him build regular, run-of-the-mill, everyday cabinets.
